That time when Steve Kerr fined Drake $500 for boarding team plane late with Steph Curry and Draymond Green

Drake, the hip-hop superstar, often acts like he’s in the NBA. The ardent Raptors fan sits in the front row, when fans are allowed, and interacts heavily with players and coaches.

He’s clearly not an NBA player, but apparently he’s been fined by an NBA team. Coach Steve Kerr told a story on Sunday, just before the Warriors win against Toronto, detailing a night when Stephen Curry and Draymond Green weren’t on the plane at departure time.

They were with Drake, and when the three finally did show up, Curry used a team rule to allow a friend on the plane. Drake boarded with the rest of the squad.

Since they were all late, the were all fined $500. Drake even paid up.

This is a pretty cool story. That’s what it was like for the Warriors, on top of the world as perennial world champions, among the most famous athletes in the world. They still are, but the team has a lot of work to do before they reach previous heights.

As for Drake, being fined by an NBA team is almost a dream come true, just short of being on an NBA floor (he’s no Master P, that’s for sure).
