Well, as it turns out, it’s important to practice.
Just a day after Warriors guard Stephen Curry and center James Wiseman devoted some time to practicing the screen-and-roll play, the two made it happen during live action. It resulted in — surprise! — and easy bucket for Wiseman on a nice dish from Curry.
Check the play out here courtesy of the Warriors’ official Twitter account. It came during Golden State’s win against the Bulls, which broke a four-game losing streak by the Bay.
Dunk of the Night status, even.
It shouldn’t be a big deal to witness Curry and Wiseman pull off one of the oldest plays in basketball. But in coach Steve Kerr’s motion-heavy offense, it’s a rare delicacy. Screen-and-rolls just don’t happen often.
But the Curry/Wiseman combo has too much potential. Kerr can’t leave it out of his arsenal. The day will soon come when Golden State needs a field goal like nobody’s business and the defense is tight, and Kerr would do well to consider going to his point guard/big man combo. It’s a doozy.
