The season is a long one in Major League Baseball, but the Oakland Athletics have seemingly already experienced a season’s worth of emotions.
After losing their first six games, the A’s have won 3-of-4, including two straight, the latest a 7-3 victory on Saturday against the Astros. If that wasn’t enough to smile about, center fielder Ramon Laureano hit a baseball so hard, the TV camera couldn’t keep up with its path as it sailed outside the field of play.
According to the broadcast, the baseball hit off the glass past the outfield at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Here’s some footage courtesy of FOX, and be sure to take a look at the launch angle toward the end of the clip. The baseball left Laureano’s bat like it was shot out of cannon.
That was mighty impressive, and was certainly worthy of the forearm bash with Mark Canha that followed. If Laureano and the rest of the Athletics can keep hitting the cover off the baseball like that, perhaps a more steady season is in the future. Next up, a a two-game set against the Diamondbacks starting on Monday.
