It’s as many say: crisis meets opportunity, including for the Oakland Athletics.
The franchise was on wobbly legs to start the season, losing its first six games. That was the worst start in Oakland Athletics’ history, and the awful beginning tied the franchise’s worst start overall, including the A’s time in Philadelphia and Kansas City.
The dugout has found its mojo, however, and the Athletics have ripped off six consecutive wins leading up to its Saturday game against the Tigers. According to Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle, only two other teams have been so streaky to start a season in the long history of Major League Baseball.
They are just the third major-league team to have a losing streak and a winning streak of at least six games in their first 14 games of a season, per Sportradar, joining the 1991 Seattle Mariners and the 1915 Chicago White Sox.

Thankfully for manager Bob Melvin and the entire franchise, the A’s are on the upswing. Either way, the club is 7-7 and will look to build momentum toward a full-season AL West title, building on its shortened-season title from a year ago.
