Steph Curry to help reboot NBC’s ‘The More You Know’ PSA series

News broke on Tuesday that Warriors guard Stephen Curry will partake in NBC’s golf broadcast of the upcoming Ryder Cup, but there’s much more to the story than that.

Remember those “The More You Know” public service announcements on NBC daytime television? Curry will also help revamp the classic series as part of a larger, comprehensive deal with NBC Universal.

The wide-ranging deal with NBC Universal will also see Curry work on scripted and unscripted TV projects, NBC and CNBC, and Dreamworks Animation, among many areas. Additionally, he will help reboot the network’s public service announcement series “The More You Know.”

If you’re not familiar with the notoriously cheesy PSAs, here’s a dated example featuring TV star Matthew Perry.

We’ll see how closely NBC sticks with the above formula, but the star logo at the end of the spot is classic.

As for the Ryder Cup, Curry will help cover the event that runs from Sept. 24-26 on NBC Sports’ Golf Channel. Curry’s company, Unanimous Media (which has got to be a nod to Curry’s unanimous MVP, right?) inked the deal, and Curry released a statement to wrap the entire package up nicely.

Curry added in a statement: “Our goal at Unanimous has always been to create content that is not only entertaining, but also uplifting and inspirational. It’s incredible to imagine all the different ways we can make this vision come to life by incorporating all the amazing assets across Comcast NBCUniversal’s portfolio that has a footprint in all areas of media and entertainment.”
