The NBA really is a lot more jovial than it used to be. Players are friendly off the court — and even on it — much more than ballers from past generations.
Take the case of Warriors forward Juan Toscano-Anderson and Suns center JaVale McGee. In the Warriors’ win over the Suns on Friday, which broke Phoenix’s 18-game winning streak, Toscano-Anderson had what he called his best in-game dunk ever over McGee (who won two NBA titles in Golden State, by the way).
But after the dust had settled on the evening, McGee said he’d sign the photo of the dunk that was making the rounds on social media.
That’s awfully nice of him. First, here’s the “poster” Juan T created with his vicious jam.
That’s an amazing photo from the Warriors. I can’t wait to see what it’ll look like after McGee signs it, as he said he would via Twitter.
Here’s more footage of the rim-rattling play that was NBA TV’s play of the day on Friday night.
As I said, the NBA has definitely changed. I mean, what would NBA Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley have done if someone did this to him and then bragged on it postgame?
But hey, it’s all love, apparently. Though when these two juggernaut squads meet on Christmas Day, it’ll likely be a slightly — if not completely — different story.
