After two long seasons away from the NBA Playoffs, the Warriors are officially back after a comeback win against the Jazz on Saturday night clinched a postseason birth. And Draymond Green had a message for the NBA as he strutted to the locker room, reveling in victory.
“We ain’t done yet.”
Here’s Green proclaiming as much, right after a mini-celebration with team-owner Joe Lacob.
Green’s statement is an obvious nod to the Warriors’ dynastic run in the latter half of the last decade. Golden State is still clinging to that championship window, and if they’re to make another run to the title, Green has to play with the same “will” that Lacob astutely pointed to in the above video.
The Warriors made a large bet on Green’s own window, signing him to a large contract that has him in a Golden State uniform through the 2023-24 season. At age 32 already, Green’s prime might disappear at any moment. Green’s recent back injury certainly didn’t allay any concerns about that. But Green looks like his old self as the season winds down, a crucial development for Lacob and his team.
The win against the Jazz put the Warriors in a good spot to hold on to the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the Western Conference for the playoffs, and if Stephen Curry returns to a team with Green back to his old ways, along with guards Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole dialed in as well, Golden State will definitely be a dangerous squad this postseason.
But first, they had to get back to the playoffs. Mission accomplished. Now, the real work is almost ready to get started, and Green looks to be powering up to his old, dangerous self, much to the delight of Lacob and all of Dub Nation.
