It’s kind of nice when news about another NBA player brushes past the greatness of Warriors guard Stephen Curry. It’s because we already know The Golden Child is the most entertaining basketball player of all time and one of the best ever, too.
He’s also the most popular player in the NBA. For proof, I offer this tweet from Alex Kennedy of basketballnews.com. In his admiration for the rapid ascent of Grizzlies G Ja Morant and his popularity across the NBA’s social media channels, Kennedy revealed that Curry has the most overall views by far.
Kennedy actually tied it all together nicely with that emoji next to Curry’s name. Well done, honestly.
Curry definitely needs help in Golden State, however, with his Warriors falling in the standing lately and — guess who — Morant and the Grizzlies not far behind. Obviously, being popular isn’t enough for Curry. He wants another NBA championship.
Thankfully, G Klay Thompson should return soon after suffering from a non-covid illness and missing two games thus far. Forward Draymond Green is also on the mend after missing a ton of time due to a back injury. Plus, second-year center James Wiseman is nearing a return as well.
Here’s documented evidence of that, courtesy of the San Francisco Chronicle’s C.J. Holmes, who took this video from Warriors practice on Wednesday.
Curry’s popularity is as strong as ever, and he hasn’t played with his two main running mates — Green and Thompson — since 2019. And Golden State will likely need them all healthy in case they run into Morant and the Grizzlies, or any other strong contender, in the playoffs. Because when those three play basketball together, they form one of the most popular teams of all time and win a lot of ballgames, led of course by Curry.
Also, I mentioned Lakers superstar LeBron James in the headline, so I may as well mention him in this post. He’s in second place to Curry one again, just as he was in each of Curry’s three NBA titles. If Curry and James match up in the playoffs, however, it will certainly be must-see TV and James will have a puncher’s chance, especially if the Warriors aren’t healthy.
