There’s something about those guys and gals from Berkeley.
Former Cal football standout and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers already won Celebrity Jeopardy! back in 2015, and now he’s set to play guest host, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Rodgers will take his turn amongst a bevy of high-profile guest hosts, with producers of Jeopardy! contributing money to the charity of each guest’s choice. The set up comes in the wake of the passing of legendary host, Alex Trebek, who’s name is synonymous with the popular quiz show.
It’s no surprise that Rodgers, an NFL QB, could fit in with all these brainiacs. He’s always displayed elite intelligence from the pocket, knowing exactly when to sit tight or when to bolt, gaining yards with his feet. He always seems to know where is wide receivers are, regardless of what he’s doing out there.
He’s made it look easy as he gets older. Former Packers teammate Datone Jones called him a genius, and that was back in 2016.
“He is a genius. Aaron Rodgers is a genius,” Jones said. “He’s a smart guy. Last year he won Celebrity Jeopardy. That’s who he is in the locker room. He’s a guy who’s going to challenge you mentally. … He’s extremely smart. He knows the defense. He teaches his receivers the defense.”

This doesn’t mean Rodgers’ hosting gig will be easy. He has legendary shoes to fill. But he is a bit of a wise old man, in football years. He’ll need every piece of wisdom, from his days at Cal to his Super Bowl winning experience at Green Bay, to nail this assignment.
